Summary

Camp Gualala is the quintessential Northern California summer camp and retreat center. With 440 acres of spectacular, old growth redwoods and private river frontage on the Gualala River, the location offers priceless natural amenities. The camp can accommodate 180 campers and has been in operation for over 80 years. The 39 acres of the camp facility is surrounded by the additional 401 acres ensuring a pristine environment for lifetimes.

Land and Location

Approximately 1 hour from Santa Rosa, CA, Camp Gualala is easily accessible located on Skaggs Springs Road in Annapolis. The Gualala River weaves its way through the property offering significant river frontage for recreational use. In 2006 the Current owners granted Sonoma County Open Space district a conservation easement on the 401 acres surrounding the camp facilities creating a permanent reserve of old growth forest. The camp has created pathways, playing fields, and massive vistas, making excellent use of the natural amenities.

Retreats and Conferences

Camp Gualala is currently operating as a camp and retreat facility under the management of UCCR (United Camps Conferences and Retreats). They handle all the scheduling, maintenance and under their supervision, provide the camp with the ACA designation. The camp has hosted groups ranging from kids summer programs to adult music camps to private retreats and conferences.

Accommodations

The camp is set up with 14 traditional summer cabins sleeping 8 each in two groups: the Redwood Cabins and Oakside Cabins. The lodges, Coalman Lodge and Berger Lodge offer winterized accommodations in dorm and small room sleeping rooms. Both lodges have gatherings space and kitchens to provide for small group retreats. The other buildings include staff housing and infirmary. The dining hall, with it's commercial kitchen is fully equipped to provide meals for crowds of over 180. UCCR has this facility on a maintenance schedule and records are available.

Recreational Facilities

The playing fields are ready for lots of fun activities including: volleyball, soccer, baseball, basketball and horse shoes. Swimming in the waters of the pristine Gualala River is a real treat. With 440 acres of forest, miles and miles of hiking are available.

Conference and Workshop Facilities

This facility is well designed for flexible use for conferences and workshops. The lodges each accommodate separate groups and due to the location, each could be occupied without disturbing the other. The Berger Lodge, with it's private kitchen, along with the Berger Minis provide ample housing for groups up to 30. At the same, potentially, another group could be staying in Coalman Lodge. Or a group could use all the facilities at once. The dining hall seats over 180 and is the ideal size for larger gatherings.

Utilities

Camp Gualala's water source is a private well. Water is stored in a 90,000 gallon concrete water storage tank. Both the well and the septic system have been serviced recently and are in good working order.
